Factors Influencing Fertility and its rate

fer

The capability of human beings of producing offspring is termed as fertility which depends on many factors influencing the ability of the couple and also determining its rate. Here is an effort to answer some common questions which couples are faced with, keeping in view the declining rate of fertility in the United States.

How do we know the actual cause of my infertility?

A large percentage of American couples have problems relating to infertility which may be due to one or more determinant factors. Improper planning for the future and failing to identify the factors that pose potential risk are some of the primary reasons why parents in America are faced with this increasing problem. The sooner they take advice of a doctor, the better is for them to have the problems attended to in time to avert the possibility of becoming childless throughout life. Factors that need to be attended to are:

  • Hormonal imbalance – The process of ovulation is affected due to irregularities in secretion of hormones which are causes of short and long menstruation cycles and excessive periods.
  • Body weight – Under or overweight can be a determining factor of infertility
  • Disorders that are auto immune – Diseases like diabetes, thyroid and other auto immune imbalances can affect the fertility in both men and women.
  • Intake of alcohol and tobacco – Alcohol consumption and smoking are deterrent factors which can have great influence on fertility.
  • Medication – Temporary infertility is sometimes caused by taking anti depressant and pain killing drugs.
  • Inflammation in the pelvic region – Ovarian cyst, ruptured appendix and sexually transmitted disease which are some of the causes of this disorder are factors that can cause infertility.

How do we make sure of conceiving?

Sometimes having casual sex may lead to conception, percentage of which is low as compared to those planned according to the ovulation period. Knowing what are your fertile days by maintaining an ovulation chart and analyzing the ovulation calendar and charting the days of ovulation beforehand would be rather a more pragmatic approach to increase the chances of conception.

How can financial factors be determinant to the increase or decline in fertility rate?

Recession has shown us that it can also play a significant part in determining the rate of fertility. General awareness of financial condition and security are two main factors that influence the rate of fertility in America. As such economic malaise is considered to be linking factor to the decline in the rate of infertility.

Do I need to worry about having babies in my 40s?

Although the rate of fertility in women during their 40s is much less than those under 30, and pregnancy may be associated with complications like miscarriage and other physical disorders, chances of getting pregnant during this period are not remote. Probability of getting pregnant in the 40s is not that much low provided couples stick to certain basic rules. Having cleared all doubts of any physical disorder which may be deterrent factor for fertility, couples engaged in sexual intercourse just 2 days before the day of ovulation and if your counterpart is of your same or even 1 or 2 years older, there is a great probability of conceiving. Otherwise, it is better to consult a doctor who may advice on fertility treatment.

Five Natural Ways to get a Radiant Skin

Women down the ages have always wanted to hold on to their attractiveness and youthful vigour and that has necessarily entailed maintaining one’s external appeal apart from preserving the internal beauty. Talking about external appearance, the imperatives of having a radiant and glowing skin certainly cannot be wished away. If you have an epidermis that is beaming and scintillating it has an invigorating effect on you which spreads happiness and mirth all over your body.

Maintaining the Natural Vigour and Lustre of Your Skin Can Be Convenient

A healthy and radiating skin also makes you feel confident about yourself. However, you’d have to take care of your skin to preserve its natural texture and brilliance much in the same way you take care of the rest of your body. Contrary to what you might think, taking good skin care does not necessarily entail using expensive topical creams and unguents or going to the skin care specialist for a costly dermatological procedure.

You’d be much better off using organic or herbal products that are not only very affordable but extensively available as well. As a matter of fact, most of the natural skin care products are tucked away safely right in the larders of your kitchen or in your refrigerator. You can try the following five natural ways if you’re sincere about sporting an illuminating skin that has an indelible effect not only on you but on everybody else.

  1. Consume Fruits and Vegetables Rich in Antioxidants

Many of the food items that you consume throughout the day contain antioxidants that offset the deleterious effects of free radicals. Free radicals are generated during the metabolic process and also by the immune system for tackling harmful viruses and bacteria. Environmental factors can also breed free radicals. Free radicals can also prematurely cause skin scarring and chafing leading to your skin developing wrinkles and creases.

Supplying your body with antioxidants by consuming oranges, apples, raspberries, strawberries, and green leafy vegetables will help negate the action of free radicals. These food items will also protect your skin from the harmful UV rays, and perk up skin tone.

  1. Apply Antioxidant Rich Creams On Your Skin

You can use medically approved topical creams and unguents that contain vitamin C and vitamin E, green tea extract, rosemary oil extract, and so on. Consume vegetables and fruits that are rich in vitamins B, C, E, and K and also rich in minerals and nutrients. These items will help retain the vigour and health of your skin.

  1. Apply Orange and Lemon Peel

The peel that is left behind after you’ve consumed the orange can be instrumental in retaining the youthfulness of your skin. You’d just have to rub the peel over your hands or face and let it remain for the next 5 to ten minutes. Wash off your hands and face and use a towel for soaking the water.

  1. Detoxification

You need to get rid of the toxins that are released in your body every day. Sometimes the excretory organs like kidneys and intestines are unable to flush out toxins effectively. Drink as much water as possible and drink at least a glass of lemon water early in the morning.

  1. Use Coconut Oil

Coconut is one fruit that abounds in different minerals and vitamins and rich in antioxidants. Apply coconut oil all over your body before taking a bath. Drinking coconut milk every day also helps in fighting free radicals and imparting your skin a healthier texture.

A healthy looking skin makes you appear younger than your age. You also feel more confident taking on the world. Apart from the above natural ways, there are umpteen other time-tested methods that you can take advantage of to preserve the radiant quality and naturalness of your skin.

The modus operandi of transferring your RSS feeds post…

In case you’re still hooked on to Google Reader posting your RSS feeds to it, you must have been sent alerts about the services shutting down. Google broadcast-ed the closure of Google Reader from 1st July, and so, it’s high time that you switched over and transferred your subscriptions to other services like Feedly or News Blur, if you haven’t yet. To be a little elaborate you should simply stop sending any further subscriptions to Google Reader and ensure that you upgrade your data through Google Takeout so that your meticulously cultivated RSS feeds do not become extinct.

As of now, you have many options and your alternatives are likely to go up in the months that follow. The following lines explain how your RSS feeds can find a new nesting place in other websites and the modus operandi of making the switch.

Exporting and claiming ownership of your feeds

Now that you know that Google Reader has closed shop, you’ll naturally want to shift all your feeds on a primary basis. RSS readers of your postings with Google Reader will be shifting your subscriptions as a matter of course the moment they tap into your account with Google.  On your end, you should first save all your feeds by creating a file or folder and storing the same in it. Thereafter, you should be staking claim to your subscriptions by transferring your existing feeds with Google Reader to other services.

Google Chrome
Google Chrome (Photo credit: thms.nl)

For ensuring that, you’ll need to redirect to Google Takeout and click on the tab ‘Choose Services’. Thereafter, you’ll have to click on the icon marked ‘Reader’. Google Takeout will work out the total number of dossiers (along with their sizes) that need to be exported in no time. A ZIP file will be automatically created when you click on the icon that says ‘Create Archive’. Subsequently click on the ‘downloads’ tabs for downloading data to your computer’s hard drive.

On opening the ZIP file, you’ll view a ‘Reader’ folder, and when you click open that folder, you’ll be led to a .xml file which stores all your feeds or subscriptions. Thereafter, it’s upto you to decide where you’d prefer to store your RSS contributions. You can take your pick from the following services.

Feedly

Though you have a plenty of choices, one of the most popular services is Feedly. Feedly has of late, brought out Feedly Cloud. You’ll find Feedly very user friendly as you would be able to navigate through their site with ease. Those entrusted with managing Feedly were aware that Google Reader would be closing down shortly and therefore were kept busy helping the subscribers of Reader make the shift to their services. If you’re thinking making the shift to Feedly, you’ll be able to make good use of their Android app.

Digg

Digg is a new kid on the block and is owned by Betaworks. It is proving to be a big hit with RSS readers. Though it has got underway only recently, it is being lapped up quickly by new users. Anyway, to send your feeds to Digg, you’ll first have to open a fresh account (despite the fact that you already had signed up with them in the past). Digg, like Feedly will be able to draw up your entire Google Reader contributions if you become their subscriber prior to July 1. You’ll find the Diggs icons absolutely stunning on each narrative.

There are other services you can select from like ‘Flipboard,’ ‘The Old Reader’, ‘AOL Reader’, and ‘NewsBlur’ to name a few.

A cheap and portable way to diagnose HIV/AIDS in…

It has been observed quite a lot that people of developing countries are mostly diagnosed with different types of diseases. Improper care and treatment leads them to painful sufferings or even proves fatal. When virus like HIV or tuberculosis hit any backward region of developing country, that region of that territory becomes a dead land. The improvement in technology has introduced a device which is portable and can diagnose any such deadly disease, which can put a bar against its motion.
What is the diagnostic device?
The latest invention by a team of experienced biologist and professor is the PCR machine or Polymerase Chain Reaction machine. The PCR machine is a small and portable device which is capable of detecting such diseases with ease. The machine is easy to operate and can be packed and moved to remote areas for such operation.
The invention of the device through stages:
The research started in the year 2004 under the supervision of Scherer (leader in microfluidics) and his student George Maltezos (PhD 2007) at Caltech. The research was based on how to introduce biological fluids into technology in the real world issues. H5N1 bird flu had erupted in Asia and the scholars took the advantage to operate their invention into real world scenario. PCR machine played a crucial role in diagnosing the diseases by taking small amount of sample for tests. However, the machine was too expensive for the hospitals in the developing countries to purchase.
Nobel laureate Baltimore’s approach brought a new turn in this research field. The PCR machine was now claimed to detect the deadly viruses like HIV. The new version of the machine was introduced in the year 2006 which can evaluate the test in only 94 seconds. The price of the machine was also reduced abruptly and it got global recognition. Still, the size was big enough to carry it to remote areas to diagnose the underprivileged people as well as to treat them.
Finally the machine arrived which was portable, robust, inexpensive, automated as well as fast. The one was operated with rechargeable battery and can be carried to any destination around the world. The latest model was capable to diagnosis HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, lower-respiratory diseases, diarrhoea and many more life talking diseases in no time. Even the cost of the PCR machine dropped down to almost $1000.
How the machine works:
The machine works on the sample DNA and produces thousands of multiple copies of that DNA. Under certain temperature the double stranded DNA splits into single strand. The duplicate copies of the DNA show the result within a short span of time and indicate the diagnosis results. This helps to identify the disease efficiently.
The invention was a miracle for the betterment of global health. Poor, under privileged and under developed communities who are deprived from the technical boon can heal up under the ease of the diagnosis of this machine. In true sense PCR device is a cheap, portable and fast way to diagnose in the developing countries.

Nepal: Home to some of the loftiest peaks of…

Nepal is the only Hindu monarchy in the world that is nestled in the Great Himalayan Mountain Range-not only the highest of all the mountain systems in the world but the youngest as well. The word or name ‘Himalayas’ means ‘home of snow’ in Sanskrit. The entire mountain range straddles the countries of Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, India, China, and Pakistan and stretches for more than 2,400 km between the rivers Brahmaputra and Indus. Over three-quarters of Nepalese territory comprises the Himalayas. Of the 14 loftiest mountain summits in the entire world (all of which lie in the Great Himalayan Range), 8 peaks are located in the Nepal Himalayas.
The Himalayan Mountain Range in Nepal
Nepal is truly a Himalayan nation as a major area of the country is cocooned in the Himalayas. The country because of its unique geographical location and unparalleled topographical features attracts tourists in droves from throughout the world. Nepal earns more than 70% of its revenues from tourism as diverse groups of people including backpackers, trekkers, student bodies, touring families, and mountaineers keep visiting the country throughout the year.
Nepal can be segregated into three distinct parallel strips extending from the southwest to the Northeast. The Great Himalayan Range spans the northern stretch of the country. All the peaks in this range remained enveloped in snow round the year and their average height is nearly 4,570 or 15,000 feet. This range is also home to the 8 steepest peaks that fall in Nepal and these are:-
·         Mt. Everest (8848m)
·         Annapurna (8091m)
·         Makalu (8,463m)
·         Manaslu (8163m)
·         Dhaulagiri (8,167m)
·         Cho Oyu (8,201m)
·         Lhotse (8,516m)
·         Kanchenjunga (8,586m)
Towards the South lies the mountain range where the mean altitude of the peaks is between 8,000 and 14,000 ft.  The Churia and the Mahabharat ranges are the major ranges of this mountain structure. Between the lofty mountain ranges lie the river valleys whose catchment areas are highly populated. The Terai is the southernmost area of Nepal and it is actually a marshy territory that extends into India.
Of the total inhabitants in Nepal, just about 8% live in the Great Himalayan Range running across the northern section of the country. One has many options of soaking in the atavistic beauty and charm of the Himalayas. The most convenient alternative would be to book a seat in a chartered flight and view the snow-topped mountains. The second option would be to gape at the vista from a resort in Dhulikhel or Nagarkot in the Kathmandu Valley. The Pokhara valley also offers some of the most breathtaking views.
However, trekking offers you the best option if you want to have the best of both the worlds-enjoy the ageless natural beauty and splendour of the mountains and also imbibe the cultural wealth and tradition of the Nepalese people. The best time to visit Nepal would be during the spring or summer when the snow thaws and turns into rushing torrents hurtling down the mountains and flooding the plains. Different species of flowers blossom on the mountains. The people harvesting crops on the mountain slopes and valleys with the cattle grazing all around, make for scenic views.
